Rumi qualified as a medical doctor in 1992 and then went on to do postgraduate training and research in Neuroscience related to Psychiatry and in Hypnotherapy.
Her professional interests and training in brain sciences and clinical hypnosis provoked her to create an unconventional career path, helping people improve their physical and mental health by utilising the power of their own mind.
Rumi has worked as a Research Fellow in Palliative Care implementing Hypnotherapy in the standard medical care of patients with advanced progressive illness.
Rumi Peynovska and clinical oncologist Dr Sarah Partridge were instrumental in setting up and running a Hypnotherapy Clinic in Cancer Care in 2006 at Charing Cross Hospital, Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust, London. The service lead to ‘HOPE Study’, a research pilot project investigating possible hypnosis based strategies for empowering cancer patients to respond effectively to conventional therapy, minimise side effects of chemo and radiotherapy and maintain well-being.
As a result of her collaboration with some of the leading paediatricians in the country, Rumi has developed a Brief Hypnosis Based Paediatric Programme for children diagnosed with functional bowel disorder, hypermobility syndrome / Ehlers -Danlos Syndrome or chronic pain.
Combining her knowledge of neuroscience and psychotherapy she has also created specific Mental Training Programmes for Emotional Regulation.
These programmes are suitable for people who would like to overcome stress, excessive worry, anxiety, panic attacks, phobias, sleep disturbances, chronic pain, headache, high blood pressure, skin problems, psychological traumas and psychosexual issues.
Rumi also regularly helps people who would like to stop smoking, lose weight, eliminate unwanted habits or simply build life-long confidence and self-esteem.
She runs CPD trainings and workshops for health professionals and lectures extensively on the medical uses of hypnosis both in the UK and abroad.
Currently, Rumi is working on the development of e-Health platforms and evidence based e-Mental Training Programmes supporting self-care and encouraging people to take active part in their treatment.
Rumi Peynovska has been featured in national and international publications.
